Flower Power

I am Flower Power, a psytrance DJ and the founder of Universal Frequencies. I grew up in Wilderness, Western Cape, surrounded by the forests and natural beauty of the Garden Route, where my connection to nature and music began. My journey with psytrance started in the early 2000s when I experienced my first festival, Beyond The Moon. From that moment, my love for the music continued to grow. In August 2016, I stepped into the trance scene and gave DJing a chance. What started as a passion quickly became a huge part of my life. Over the years, I have performed throughout the Garden Route at gatherings including Freaky Forest, Echo Gatherings, Wacky Woods, Earthdance, Aloe Roots and Hug a Tree, as well as across South Africa in Cape Town, Johannesburg and the Eastern Cape. I have also had the privilege of playing at larger gatherings including Origin, Little Forest Festival and many more. My sound sits between 140–148 BPM, with a deep love for full-on psytrance. For me, DJing is about more than playing tracks — it is about creating a journey, reading the energy of the crowd and creating a space where people can let go, connect and become completely present in the moment. Since 2016, I have also been creating charity gatherings, and since 2018 through my own brand, Universal Frequencies, combining my love for music, art, nature and community with meaningful change through supporting Global Reboot NPO. I truly believe music has the power to bring people together, break down barriers and create positive change. Psytrance represents freedom, connection and ultimate bliss — a space to leave everyday worries behind and simply be. I am incredibly grateful to live a life where I can create, perform, inspire and bring people together through music. I feel like I have only just begun.
